MMSD Headquarters Master PlanLocation: Milwaukee, WI
Type: Planning Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) has had the bulk of their employees housed in two buildings located at 260 W Seeboth Street in Milwaukee for over 30 years. In the intervening years, MMSD’s office needs have evolved through changing needs in their organization as well as shifting priorities in workplace environments. Smaller office renovation projects have taken place over the years reacting to immediate needs without taking account future space requirements of the organization. The result of these actions has been a workplace that has an inefficient layout, inadequately sized offices, and outdated collaboration spaces that do not meet current needs.
Dan Beyer Architects produced holistic planning document that allowed the organization to understand the capacity of the current lab and headquarter buildings to plan for future departmental space needs. The planning documents completed the following tasks: • Documented existing space usage of the buildings per department and identified areas where space is not being used efficiently. • Provided a current understanding of departmental space needs and adjacencies. • Developed conceptual planning diagrams that arranged the different departments within the two buildings efficiently and effectively. The end result of the study is a document that will be used by MMSD in a upcoming major renovation of the building. |
