Milwaukee Montessori School - Master PlanLocation: Milwaukee, WI
Type: Planning A series of unrelated building over the years led to a situation where the front door of Milwaukee Montessori School was in the back of the building, making the school feel less welcome to visitors than desired. That, coupled with a need for additional administration space, spurred the school into looking at what could be done to improve their situation. Dan Beyer Architects suggested creating a masterplan for these spaces that would look at different options for the entrance and determine the best solution that the school could afford.
Two options were presented, one that moves the administration spaces and enhances an entrance that currently exists in the front of the school. By moving the administrative wing, this option created a more welcoming experience for visitors while providing additional security for the school and expanding their administration area. A second option creates a new, prominent canopy that leads to the current main entrance. This option provided a more affordable choice that still greatly improves the existing condition. |
