Milwaukee Montessori School Entry

DBA’s has provided design services for numerous projects for Milwaukee Montessori School’s campus, a prestigious K-12 school that serves the regional Milwaukee area. After the completion of the new fieldhouse on their campus, the school shifted their focus to renovating and upgrading their main student entry and their vehicular circulation and parking lot. These spaces are greatly used during the school’s pick up and drop off activities that occur during the day at the school and need to provide ample space for students to wait for their ride as well as efficient circulation for the parent’s vehicles.
The design of the new entrance provides a new stair and seating area for the students and incorporates the latest school security measures for K-12 schools. A large canopy shelters the entrance and seating area to protect the students during inclement weather. Using materials and elements that were used at the new fieldhouse, the design includes warm wood slats and soffit to create a cohesive campus environment for the school.
Incorporating sustainable principles is an important component of the school’s mission and this project includes bird-safe glazing for the wind-screen to protect wild-life and permeable pavers at the parking lot which significantly reduces the stormwater run-off to the city’s sewer system.
