Greater Heights Climbing GymLocation: Fitchburg, WI
Type: Commercial The Greater Heights Climbing Gym is a new building being developed in Fitchburg Wisconsin that is designed to offer its members a state of the art rock climbing experience. The building includes a 40 tall walls for rope climbing and 20 foot tall walls for bouldering. In addition to these walls, the building incudes other climbing and fitness activities such as a kilter board and campus board for climbing strength training, as well as a fitness room with weights and cardio equipment and a yoga studio.
The design of the building places an emphasis on getting the most out of a small budget. The exterior has a geo-morphic massing – allowing the building to shift between two different height volumes in a dynamic way that recalls natural forms. The metal paneling of the building’s skin combines different colors of panels in a gradient pattern that breaks down the massing of the building and creates an interesting and eye-catching look along Rimrock Road. Specific details of the building elevate the pedestrian experience as you walk around the building. The windows of the building are located in a way to provide framed views into the interior of the rope climbing gym to give an understanding of the building’s use as people pass by the site. Additionally, the design puts a cedar siding at the main entrance that will provide a warm and welcoming experience as you enter the building. |
